Currys works in partnership with UX Global to introduce robots in ‘retail first’

UX Global is hitting the headlines again as the retail media reports on our partnership with the UK’s largest electrical retailer Currys, to bring robots to the shopfloor for the first time in four of its UK-based stores. The pilot project saw robots from UX Global working alongside the Currys team to help its customers navigate its extensive product ranges more easily.

Alistair Wright, Managing Director at UX Global explains: “We were lucky enough to experience a demo of KettyBot  at the end of last year and we knew instantly it had the potential to be a gamechanger for some of our customers, particularly the big brand retailers that we work with. The benefits of utilising robotics to retailers are endless and include boosting sales, reducing operational costs, improving efficiency, possibly generating advertising revenue and enhancing the instore experience. As a forward-thinking innovative brand, Currys was open to piloting their use in some key stores and KettyBot brought an exciting and innovative dynamic to the shopfloor teams, who I don’t think ever thought they’d be working alongside a robot!”

Ainsley Sykes, Head of Commercial Initiatives and Retail Design at Currys commented:

“Initially created for use within the hospitality sector, we saw an opportunity for KettyBot to enhance our in-store customer experience for those who know what they want but need a little helping hand in finding it in store. So far, the trial has gone exceptionally well, with both customers and colleagues singing KettyBot’s praises. We are very much looking forward to conducting a thorough review during the trial and looking at how we continue to improve and enhance our in-store experience.

Richard Kirk, Birmingham Store Manager added: “It’s fair to say that both myself and the team were a little concerned when we heard about robot trials happing in-store. However, KettyBot is allowing us to spend much more time with those customers who need our expert advice when making their purchases, and the reaction from our customers has also been great to see. KettyBot has very quickly become a very much valued member of the team”.
