The Client
Established in 1981, In-Time are leading watch and jewellery repair specialists. In-Time now has hundreds of stores/locations across the UK, Switzerland, Spain and Portugal.
The Challenge
In-Time wanted to expand to new locations across the UK and asked UXG to design a series of custom-built kiosks to be situated in shopping centres across the UK. In-Time also wanted to establish a presence within department stores and required branded concession units that could be installed in-store. Committed to their ambitious expansion project, In-Time also decided to open a bricks and mortar flagship store in Exeter.
The Solution
Governed by the mall width and fire officer regulations within shopping centres, we needed to design a kiosk that would satisfy the centre regulations whilst still being functional for up to 3 members of staff. We built 3D models in SolidWorks to give the client confidence that the finished product matched their goals and functioned correctly, then we 3D printed scaled models of the kiosks to bring them to life.
Once the principle design had been finalised, we built the first kiosk in our 14,000 sq ft warehouse. This enabled us to tweak the design, finalise the positioning of graphics and allow the client to view the finished product in person.
We then installed the first kiosk in In-Time’s Cardiff location. After which, we were able to streamline the engineering process by nesting machined panels on our CNC and forward ordering kit. We scaled up production to install kiosks across multiple sites throughout the year. Each kiosk covered a general space of 10m² and was built from fully fire rated materials. We added Digital Signage Displays, Colour changing LED lighting and iPads with security housings.
Success
Since March, we have installed In-Time kiosks and concessions in 15 locations throughout the UK. We have also converted an empty shell retail unit into the new In-Time flagship store at Princesshay Exeter via our full project management service. To create a visually stunning yet functional store, we designed and installed Digital Signage, LED lighting, retail displays and external signage alongside custom graphics and a content management system.
We future-proofed all the display solutions with the inclusion of System on Chip (SoC), enabling each screen to have full content updates pushed via the Internet from In-Time HQ or anywhere in the world, directly to the display without the need for a separate media player.
In line with the customer-centred philosophy we have at UXG, our training team ensured that all the users can operate the technology we supplied with comfort and ease.
