Digital Screens and Meeting Rooms

The Crucible Theatre, Sheffield

The Client

The iconic Crucible Theatre in Sheffield opened in 1971 and hosts regular theatrical performances as a key part of the city’s vibrant cultural scene. It is also well known for hosting professional snooker’s most prestigious tournament, the annual World Snooker Championship.

The Challenge

The UX Global team was tasked with enhancing the visitor experience at The Crucible Theatre with a package of specific digital display solutions to enable advertising of forthcoming productions and events within public areas and the use of state-of-the-art video conferencing in meeting rooms.

Our Solution

As the digital display partner of choice for theatres, we drew on our experience of working with the likes of Leeds Playhouse and the Stafford Gatehouse Theatre to design, manufacture, install and maintain a suite of audio-visual hardware to meet The Crucible’s needs. As a Philips Professional Displays (PPDS) certified partner we used their screens in the public areas to ensure the best possible visual quality that will stand the test of time with second-to-none aftercare and sustainability credentials. Now Signage content management systems was installed as they have a proven record working with the PDS system on chip screens and the in-house marketing team found it very user friendly. The displays had to be installed in the perfect position to allow for comfortable and clear viewing – and this of course all had to be done efficiently, with a seamless finish, and with as little disruption to the day-to-day running of the theatre as possible. We also brought our experience of working in the corporate sector to ensure the theatre’s meeting rooms were fit for the future as interactive work and event spaces with fully integrated remote and co-working solutions using CTouch screens with their Teams Go solution and Yealink video conferencing systems

Success

Rachel Nutland, Communications Director at Sheffield Theatres, said: “The UX Global team understood exactly what we were looking to achieve and the digital solutions they designed, manufactured and installed for us provide a more interactive and immersive experience for our visitors and staff. They were a pleasure to work with and completed everything on time and on budget.”

Alistair Wright, Managing Director of UX Global, added: “As a Yorkshire-based business, it’s a huge honour to work with a local, internationally recognised venue like The Crucible and we are proud to have played a part in supporting the theatre to create an award-winning visitor experience, even working with the BBC to play live snooker on the screens we installed.”
